Telegram Stranger Chat Bot — Meet People Without Sharing Your Number
The problem with most "anonymous" chat services is that they're only anonymous on their own terms. Sign in with Google, and they know who you are. Use a phone-verified account, and there's a trail. Telegram is a bit different — but even there, chatting with a stranger in a group or DM exposes your username.
HiStranger's Telegram bot solves this. It's a stranger-chat bot that keeps both sides anonymous — you never see each other's usernames, numbers, or profiles. Just two strangers, talking through a relay.
How is this different from just messaging someone on Telegram?
When you send a Telegram DM, the other person sees your username, profile picture, and — if you haven't hidden it — your phone number. You're not anonymous at all.
With HiStranger's bot, neither party knows who the other is. The bot receives your message and forwards it to your partner under an alias. Your partner's identity is equally hidden from you. The bot is the only party that briefly sees both sides — and it doesn't store conversations beyond the session.
What data does the bot see?
Telegram bots have access to the messages you send them, your Telegram user ID (a number, not your phone), and your first name as you've set it in Telegram. The bot does not receive your phone number — Telegram doesn't share that with bots. Your username is visible to the bot but is not forwarded to your chat partner.
HiStranger uses your Telegram user ID to manage your session (pairing, skipping, stopping) and your first name to display to your partner as "Stranger" or a similar alias. We don't build profiles.
How to use the HiStranger stranger chat bot
- Open Telegram and search @HiStrangerBot
- Tap Start
- Tap Find Stranger — you'll enter the pairing queue
- When you're connected, a message confirms it. Start typing.
- To end the conversation, tap Stop
- To find someone new, tap Find Stranger again
Who are you actually paired with?
HiStranger runs one shared pairing queue for both the Telegram bot and the website. When you tap Find Stranger, you go into the same queue as people opening histranger.lol in their browsers. That shared queue means shorter wait times — you're not limited to however many people happen to be using the bot at that exact moment.
Your partner could be:
- Someone on Telegram (another bot user)
- Someone on the HiStranger website
- An AI conversation partner, if no human is available within a few seconds

Is it safe?
Anonymous chat is what you make of it. The bot doesn't expose your real identity, but that cuts both ways — your partner is also anonymous. Standard advice applies: don't share your real name, location, workplace, or photos of yourself. If a conversation goes somewhere uncomfortable, tap Stop and move on. There's no consequence for leaving.
The bot is a relay, not a record. Your conversation isn't stored after the session ends.
What happens if no one is available?
If the queue is empty and no human is found within a few seconds, HiStranger automatically connects you to an AI chat partner — a distinct persona with its own personality and conversational style. You can have a real conversation with it while you wait, or stop anytime to try the queue again.
